It is very important that the connection to the irrigation system is done properly. We have taken the guesswork out of connecting your EZ-FLO unit to the irrigation piping by making coupling connections available in 4 styles as well as drill and tap options:

  -Standard Slip Couplings
  -Ball Valve Couplings
  -Retrofit Couplings
  -Threaded Slip Couplings

For smaller piping sizes below 1", you can use the drill and thread connection option but it is very important to install the tubing barbs correctly according to instructions to minimize the risk that the unit will not proportion when started.  Larger drill and tap options using an existing valve can also be an option in some cases.

95% of the problems reported to our Help Desk relate to improper installation and are usually solved by reviewing the installation procedure used.

EZ-FLO also carries a full line of replacement parts for your convenience.

    Couplings and Installation Options

EZ-FLO systems are installed in a main line irrigation system using one of five different connection options (which are sold separately as they must be matched to each specific pipe size and also to ensure proper flow control).  These connection options include and which are described below:

•  EZ Standard Coupling Connectors

•  EZ Ball Valve Coupling Connectors

•  EZ Retro(fit) Coupling Connectors

•  EZ Threaded Coupling Connectors

        •  EZ Saddle Venturi Connectors

    STANDARD SLIP Coupling Connectors

By far the most popular connection type is the standard slip coupling connection. Standard Slip Coupling Connectors are available in sizes ranging from 3/4" to 2" with socket x socket connections for gluing into PVC pipe.  Standard Coupling Connectors are manufactured from Schedule 40 PVC with 1/4" nylon barbed tubing connections. Standard Coupling Connections are used to connect the EZ-FLO system to the irrigation flow line before or after the valve with the 1/4" flexible tubing which is included with every EZ-FLO system.  These connectors can be used in both new and retrofit installations.  Not recommended for EZ005 and larger models.  Click here for Standard/Ball Valve Connectors.

    BALL VALVE Coupling Connectors

Ball Valve Coupling Connectors are available in sizes ranging from 3/4" to 4" with socket x socket connections for gluing into PVC pipe. They are manufactured from Schedule 40 PVC with 1/4" nylon barbed tubing connections. They are used to connect the EZ-FLO system to the irrigation flow line before or after the valve with the 1/4" flexible tubing provided with every EZ-FLO system. They are required for complex system designs or when the elevation of zone valves downstream from the EZ-FLO installation point are at an elevation of 10 feet (3 meters) or more above the installation point or where the user needs more control over the operation of the fertigation unit.  Ball Valve Connectors provide the ability to adjust the differential pressure between the inlet and outlet connections to the irrigation flow line and can ensure that even the heaviest organic fertilizers and supplements can be pulled from the tank.

Ball Valve Coupling connectors are highly recommended for use with EZ005-FX and EZ010-FX models and REQUIRED FOR all High Capacity (HC) main line units.

Ball Valve Connectors provide the ability to adjust the differential pressure between the inlet and outlet connection to the irrigation flow line. They are also recommended for any application where higher feed rates are desired or heavier fertilizer/supplement products are used. This is especially important to nurseries and growers where higher proportioning rates are needed.

    RETROFIT Coupling Connectors

Retro Connectors are available in two popular sizes, 3/4" and 1" with socket x socket connections for gluing into PVC pipe.  They are especially useful for times when there is limited space at the connection point or where it is difficult or impossible to use a standard coupling connector.  Retro couplings require only a standard coupling length and they have retractable sheaths that stretch onto the existing PVC pipe for gluing.  They are manufactured from Schedule 40 PVC with 1/4" nylon barbed tubing connections. They are used to connect the EZ-FLO system to the irrigation flow line before or after the valve with the 1/4" flexible tubing provided with every EZ-FLO system.  The nylon barbed tubing connectors are threaded in after the pre-tapped connector has been glued into the irrigation flow line.  For detailed instructions, click here.     THREADED Coupling Connectors

These coupling connections are used with polyethylene or copper piping systems and are available in 3/4" and 1" sizes.  Threaded coupling connectors have a female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection. Threaded Coupling Connectors are manufactured from Schedule 40 PVC with 1/4" nylon barbed tubing connections. Threaded Coupling Connections are used to connect the EZ-FLO system to the irrigation flow line before or after the valve with the 1/4" flexible tubing provided with every EZ-FLO system.

    CUSTOM ENGINEERED Connections

For situations where piping sizes are larger or the irrigation system is complex (such as for large commercial, municipal or school landscapes), our engineering department can work with customers directly to tailor design a connection scheme for your purpose.  An EZ coupling is the preferred connection but tapping into existing lines can be done.   Please  Contact Us for assistance.

To connect to an existing system by tapping into the lines before and after a valve, see the accompanying  Valve Tap Instructions.
