GreenScaping and Sustainable Sites

EZ-FLO supports easier ways to have a greener, healthier landscape using sustainable site practices.  Using EZ-FLO means you can cut down on fertilizer used and fertilizer runoff.  You also save water.  And you can reduce or eliminate potential toxic herbicides and pesticides from your landscape without sacrificing the look and quality that you want!

Please join with us in supporting both the Environmental Protection Agency's "GreenScapes Alliance Program" and the "Sustainable Sites Initiative", a partnership of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the United States Botanic Garden in their endeavors.

Sustainable Sites Initiative

"Site design can be improved to protect and regenerate the landscape’s ability to regulate the climate, clean air and water, and improve our quality of life." - Sustainable Sites Initiative

There are standards for the building of sustainable (green) buildings under the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Program, but up until now, there are no meaningful standards in LEED to guide the building of sustainable landscapes.  But that's about to change!

The Sustainable Sites Initiative www.sustainablesites.org  is an interdisciplinary partnership between the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the United States Botanic Garden and a diverse group of stakeholder organizations to develop guidelines and standards for landscape sustainability. The motivation behind this initiative stems from the desire to protect and enhance the ability of landscapes to provide services such as climate regulation, clean air and water, and improved quality of life. Sustainable Sites™ is a cooperative effort with the intention of supplementing existing green building and landscape guidelines as well as becoming a stand-alone tool for site sustainability.

LEED has recognized that it does not adequately address sustainable landscapes in its guidelines and the US Green Building Council will be adopting the guidelines developed by the Sustainable Sites Initiative in further iterations of LEED.
